And the Award Goes To...

Updated: Mar 7, 2019

Ya girl’s been nominated for an award y’all!! It’s called the Liebster Award, and it’s for bloggers by bloggers. Most people usually don’t hear about this award until they are nominated, so I’m glad that it’s my turn to spread the word!!

Being nominated means that I must:

  • mention the blogger that nominated me. MAJOR shout out to Brit, founder of TheHappinessAgreement.com!! Thank you so much for nominating me!

  • answer 11 of Brit’s questions about my blog

  • give 11 random facts about myself

  • nominate 11 other bloggers for the award

  • come up with 11 questions for the bloggers that I nominate to answer!!

So without further ado: Leggo!!

11 Random Facts about Me (because those are fun)

  1. My favorite color is gold.

  2. My top 3 Love Languages are Words of Affirmation, Acts of Service, and Physical Touch.

  3. My favorite things to do: Laugh, read, and watch movies.

  4. I always have food in my purse.

  5. I enjoy doing laundry.

  6. I only sleep on one side of my bed. My pillows, laptop, Bible, devotional, and planner usually occupy the other side.

  7. My favorite food is French fries.

  8. I dance with Jesus during my worship time before I go to bed. (That’s kind of embarrassing to share, but don’t judge me until you try it.)

  9. I believe the best feeling in the world is turning off a morning alarm and going back to sleep. That’s why I set 5 of them, so I can do it 4 times before I actually need to be up.

  10. I collect coffee mugs. Not on purpose, I just won’t stop buying them. (Is there a rehab for this??)

  11. My first words of the day are always “Thank You, Lord.”

Brit’s questions about QueenlyMe

1. When did you start your blogging journey?

I started my blog in July 2017. Almost a year old! Ayyyyyee!

2. How did you land on the focus and purpose of your blog?

I can’t take the credit for starting this blog: It was God’s instruction to me. So naturally, I asked Him what it was supposed to be about. When I was dead-set on counseling in a traditional setting (which God shut down pretty quickly!), my focus was on individual wellness, relationships, and guiding others towards their purposes. Those things became the focus of my blog!

3. Where do you go to write?

I am VERY easily distracted (We, psychologist, love to people-watch!) so I normally write best at home. I have a desk that I never use (haha!) I open my blinds, light a candle, put on some Jazz (it helps me focus and calms me at the same time), sit on the top left side of my bed (where I sleep) and get to work!! Well… actually it’s more like getting to “purpose!”

4. What practices do you put in place to prevent burnout and maintain wellness?

I’m the type of person that won’t let myself rest until my goals are accomplished (and to perfection at that!) But I am blessed with a best friend that holds me accountable for resting, relaxing, and treating myself. Saturdays are for me and friends. Sundays are for me and God (and family before I moved to Atlanta *sniff*). NO EXCEPTIONS!

5. What is a happy memory you will never forget?

I have a rather large immediate family (my parents, 3 big sisters, 5 nephews, and a niece-there’s 12 of us!) so it’s really hard for us to all come together. But Christmas in my family is MANDATORY!! No matter where we live we always come together to eat, play games, laugh, argue, watch movies, sing, dance, reminisce, and just love on each other. It’s amazing!

6. What’s one piece of advice you would give to your 12-year-old self?

I would tell my 12-year-old self that fitting in keeps me from standing out. During that time, I really needed to know that it was okay to be smarter, more mature, and more compassionate than the average 12-year old. Not to sound grandiose, but I often watered down my intelligence and character because it seemed like I never had anything in common with the people my age.

7. Where would you recommend traveling to, and why?

Anywhere!! Travelling teaches you SO MUCH about life, but mostly about yourself!

8. The best book you’ve read lately, and why.

Aw shoot! You done messed up with THIS question!! *in my Tennessee twang* The best book I’ve read lately has been “No Opportunity Wasted: The art of execution” by Bishop Joseph W. Walker III. And this isn’t just because I’m a member of “The Mount” (shout out to Mount Zion Baptist Church in Nashville!!) But this book released during a time when the fear of my growing purpose was causing me to become stagnant in my purpose-chase. This book gave me clarity on my next steps and the evidence that God was backing me all the way through.

9. What’s next on the bucket list?

Well I’ve always wanted to go on a mission’s trip! It turns out that God just recently allowed me the opportunity to go to Haiti with an amazing non-profit organization called The EatWell Exchange. And guess what…. The trip just happens to fall on my BIRTHDAAAAAY (Psst… It you want to show me some birthday love, click here to donate to the organization’s Mission to Haiti! God’s gone bless ya nah *there’s that twang again*)

10. Who is a motivational person (celebrity or non-) to you, and why?

Again… not because I’m a member of The Mount, but when I think of “motivation” I automatically think of Bishop Walker for sure. I think about all of the positions he holds and all of the responsibilities he has on a weekly basis, and yet he remains consistent and relational with all of his members and followers, while being a husband and father of 2! A lot of times I catch myself thinking, “If Bishop can do all of that, then I can do this…”

11. What’s your next big goal for your blog?

Well as I’ve said before, this blog wasn’t my idea, so God’s goals are the only ones that matter. I am, however, really excited about the recent goal that He led me to accomplish by creating a YouTube channel in addition to my written blog. I believe this will help to extend God’s reach through me to other “Royals” who may not particularly have a heart for reading, but have a heart for Christ.
